A 5-mile long island off the coast of mainland Belize is called Caye Caulker; a charming Caribbean island in which the motto is “go slow.” Its amazing sea landscapes, numerous watersports, eco-tours and friendly communities are known to this island. The trip to Caye Caulker from Ambergris Caye takes just 30 minutes by water taxi. It is far smaller and has a population of less than 2 000 compared to the 20 000 people of Ambergris, but this island is just as beautiful and the pace is much slower. Ten years behind Ambergris Caye is Caye Caulker. The streets are still packed with sand and here you will not have to deal with the traffic. You’re going to see some golf carts, but neither cars nor trucks.
