Varadero perceptions differ: some people look forward to a beautiful seafront Paradise; some look forward to a hedonistic party resort; others ignore it entirely, believing that it is a fake location without Cubans. It’s not one of these cases, although it’s Cuba’s kit retreat. The main feature in the region is the mere reach of its dazzling white sand beach, which is a motorway of sand that stretches almost the entire length of a 25 km mainland peninsula. The colors of the calm waters construct an impressive turquoise curtain between the land and the Strait of Florido, but the beach rarely reaches more than a five-minute walk, as it is hardly half a kilometer long.
