Manizales is a city in the mountainous coffee region of western Colombia. It is known for its cultural events, steep streets and views of the nearby Nevado del Ruiz volcano. The central Plaza de Bolívar has a sculpture of a man-condor who honors the revolutionary leader Simón Bolívar. The Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of the city has a neo-Gothic style and a gazebo on its roof. Nearby is the Governor’s Palace in neocolonial style.
